This has been a long day for Manny.. But, as expected, HE WON! Hurrah for us Filipinos... Mabuhay ka Manny! TKO at the 12th round. Fairly a good fight there... Congratulations also for Cotto, as he still remained on his feet despite the loss, unlike the previous opponents of PACMAN...

"MUDRAKZ"

I saw this Indie film at Cinema One yesterday and somehow it got me thinking of so many issues that women face. The disrespect that men (husbands) give outright and directly to women who never asserts her rights and happiness is too much as depicted in this film. And quite frankly, it does exist in our society. Women who are unable to face the core of their problems would instead confront problems in the home that she is able to confront, much like Margaret's obsessive compulsion to keep dirty dishes, ugly stains, and disorderly appliances in order instead of focusing on her husband's infidelity and lewdness. She shuns away from the fact that her children are affected by the moral issues that confront the business dealings of her husband, or the fact that her husband thinks it disrespectful every time she speaks her native dialect and obviously shows disgust in front of the kids. Such demeaning acts, plus the fact that her kids do not communicate with her makes her lonelier and shut from the world that the rest of her family is living in.

And of course, the very obvious fact that communication is indeed the best weapon of all is highly magnified in this film. Social issues & women's issues that the film is trying to open the eyes of the viewers with is much appreciated . What do you think?

MTV Emerge

Today I signed up for MTV Emerge. Hehehe, a rising star eh? Not quite. MTV Emerge is actually a platform for unsigned music talents in the Philippines to showcase their work and to be given an opportunity to win a one-year recording contract with Jeepney Music. It's an MTV, Jeepney Music, and Department of Tourism collaboration that aims, not only to hunt for the hottest unsigned music talent from all genres of music (Indie, rock, hip-hop, R&B, metal, solo artists, DJs, etc) but also gather an online music community where new music from the Philippines can be discovered. Sounds cool?

All the participants from any music genre are encouraged to register and upload their profiles, photos and original music on the MTV Emergesite during the contest submission period. Their entries will go through a public voting process, where, a total of seven grand winners will be selected from the top entries on November 20 by a panel of judges including Apl.de.Ap, one of the members of the sensational Black Eyed Peas, who is actually the founder of Jeepney Music...

All seven grand winners of MTV Emerge will win a one-year recording contract with Jeepney Music and mentorship under Apl.de.Ap. OMG! I hope I will win.. uhmm.. I wish.. hehehe... What's more promising is the fact that the contract includes artist management and promotion, digital distribution of 3 – 6 songs and a strategic marketing plan for the signed artists to break into both the Philippines and international markets.

As for me, well, I think I will have to think of something to contribute for my entry. In the meantime, I must tell you about the unsigned artist I voted for. She is CHARMI SANTOS. I like the song she sang and the lyrics kinda hits me.. It's entitled Tinkerbelle's Theme... Vote for her too. She's good...

Nanny Needed: A SCAM

Here is one recent SCAM that I discovered online. A certain Vincent Edmond would send you email with the subject "Nanny Needed" and on his initial email (vedomd@walla.com) would say:

Hello,

My name is Vincent Edmond. I live here in London UK. I need a service of a nanny to help me take good care of my family.I am willing to pay you 3400 pounds as your monthly salary. I am also willing to provide you with accomodation.Should you interested do reply me urgently. I shall give you more detail as soon as i hear from you.

On another email (jameshall6778@googlemail.com) the initial message would be,

Hello,
I am Vincent Edmond, I have 2 kids. I am seeking for the servcies of a nanny to come and work for me in the U.K,I am willing to offer 850 pounds sterling per week and will provide monthly shopping allowances as well as accomodation.If interested please get back to me

And another in another email recipient. Anyway, if you reply with interest, you will get a reply using another email (vedomd@gmail.com) saying:

Hello,
Thanks for your mail. Let me explain to you better. This job is still available but there is only one thing i want you to know and if you can meet with the requirements then you will be qualify for the job. My advice to you is that you should be involved in the expenses to reach here in United Kingdom and i shall be responsible for refund for every expenses made by you immediately you get here. Why I said so is that i have paid for 2 Nannies in the past months which they did not come to my home but went to somewhere else and that is why I vowed that any Nannies that i will employ,will be involved in all the expenses,just for me to be sure that you will not do like the past Nannies and you are ready to work with my family here in UK because I
don't want someone who don't care about kids because i cherish my kids allot.

The amount involve is 3000 pounds. I am ready to shoulder 2850 pounds and u will shoulder the balance 150 pounds. If you can do this then let me know so that i can introduce you to the travel agency that will process your travel documents and Visa. It is very important that you send to me you resume (CV) for my record.

The duties I'm looking for are as follows:
1-Supervise breakfast with the children in the morning and get them

6-Occasional weekend work would be offered by prior negotiation. I normally leave for work at 7.00am and get back at around 6.30pm although some flexibility is useful. I am offering a live in position with full board (we eat well in this house!)

I kinda got curious so I played on and replied with interest. And of course, what these SCAMMERS are really after is your personal information by asking you to send your CV and all. On this note, I didn't send any because I was looking at the email where it was from and this time, it's another email (vincentedmonddddd@yahoo.com.co).

If this is a legit deal, why on earth would the person be changing emails from time to time as he sends out responses to your communication? I could foresee that if I had been stupid to believe this to be true, I would have been ripped for 150 pounds, not to mention, risk my identity to be stolen.. So you guys out there, if you are seeking jobs, go for the legit deals, and be keen to the signs. You can not trust anyone online.
